Lent March 17 – Good News!

When I was a boy and would see scary things on the news, my mother would always tell me, “Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.”  – Fred Rogers.

Fasting from Facebook has muted the rage button. One can only hear so much insanity before one numbs out and starts reading Nietzsche.

I met Branden Harvey in Nashville last summer. Branden started his Instagram with the express purpose of spreading joy instead of vitriol. And he started long before the 2016 election cycle. (What am I saying? The election cycle never cycled out).

Branden is now launching a Kickstarter campaign to create the Goodnewspaper, a quarterly print that celebrates people, ideas and movements that are changing the world for the better, and provides you with tangible action steps on becoming good news yourself. What’s not to like? Go check him out on Kickstarter and Instagram.

And now, this puppy:

Susan, you could send one of your email updates EVERY DAY and I would love it. I enjoy your wit, sarcasm, and worldview 🙂 Thanks for sharing yourself – and for your book ‘Angry Conversations with God.’ It really helped me move through a spiritual drought. Nothing has really changed in my life from a circumstantial perspective since I read your book, but God has changed my heart and mind to understand how suffering and disappointment can change His children to be more like His Son 🙂 I see Him in all of life and not just in the sunny days now. Thanks again!

    • Thank you so much, Teresa. And so glad to hear of your inner transformation. Richard Rohr’s book “Falling Upward” has helped me a lot in that same area, coming to understand my journey and that failure is part of the inner transformation that really counts in the end. XO
